Douglas Fir Essential Oil can be emotionally uplifting and stimulating and comforting at the same time. Our wildcrafted oil is steam distilled from the needles and twigs creating a thin, clear, to pale yellow oil that smells woody and characteristically pine-like, but it also features layers of citrus and floral notes. The Douglas Fir tree can live 500 years.  Perhaps it’s the enduring strength of this tree that makes the oil so powerfully effective in providing immune strength. Douglas Fir can also help fight symptoms of Diarrhea, colds and flu, and helps with cystitis and colitis.

The tree does not fall within the traditional fir Genus of Abies and is not considered to be a true fir tree. It is of the Pinaceae family. Douglas Fir Oil does vary in composition, but it tends to be comprised mostly monoterpenes and esters. If sensitive, may cause skin irritation. In this case, use in low dilution (5-6 drops per ounce of carrier) when applying to the skin. It blends well with other conifer and wood essential oils like Siberian Fir, Silver Fir and Virginian Cedarwood. Or try it with Sweet Orange, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lavender, or Peppermint.
