Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis), is an herbaceous perennial plant from the daisy family. It is often found growing wild. The stem is stiff with multiple branches and golden yellow flowers. The plant is native to North America and Canada, and has a long history of use by Native Americans. The essential oil is steam distilled from the goldenrod flowers and produces a yellow colored liquid with a strong fresh citrusy, balsamic and peppery aroma with woody undertones.

Goldenrod has long been used by Native Americans medicinally including respiratory conditions, wound treatment, urinary tract infections and supporting the circulatory system.

It blends well with Rosemary, Pine, Ginger, Lemongrass, Ravensara, Spruce, Balsam and other spice oils. Goldenrod is considered non-toxic, non-irritant, and non-sensitizing: Can cause sensitivity in some people. Do not use when pregnant or nursing.
