Labrador Tea (Rhododendron groenlandicum)

Labrador Tea is also known as Ledum and Greenland Moss essential oil. This is a beautiful and hardy shrub that has leathery evergreen leaves.  It is native to North America from Greenland and Labrador across to Alaska. The leaves and twigs were used by almost all of Canada’s First Nations peoples as a decoction and infusion to support various conditions such as fever, rheumatism, respiratory illnesses, seasonal flu, and digestive and kidney ailments.

Labrador tea is a wonderful oil to use to help support and balance the emotions. It is particularly admired for its ability to help ease anxiety and calm the mind. It can help you relax, and it promotes restful sleep.  It is often used topically for its astringent, healing, and purifying properties in acne-prone or oily skin. Due to its diuretic properties, this oil should not be used during pregnancy.

Labrador tea is steam distilled from the leaves, resulting in a pale-yellow liquid with a fresh, herbaceous, and slightly sweet aroma and earthy-wood undertones. This oil has
a natural affinity for the immune system and can be an effective immune system supporter.

Labrador Tea blends well with Palo Santo, Frankincense other resins, and citrus oils.
