Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) is native to the Moluccas and nearby islands, and cultivated in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and the West Indies. The tree is an evergreen that has a smooth bark, dense foliage and small yellow flowers. The tree’s seeds are steam distilled to extract the essential oil, which produces a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a rich, sweet, warm, spicy, and woody scent. The oil is also distilled in the United States, and Europe. The aroma has the abillity to stimulate the mind, and freshen the air around us. Therapeutically, Nutmeg oil can support the digestive, immune, nervous and circulatory systems. Use this oil with moderation.

Nutmeg blends well with Black pepper, Bergamot, Clary sage, Cypress, Lavander, Lavandin, Orange, Mandarin, Geranium, Petitgrain, Coriander, Tea tree and other oils. Nutmeg has a deep relaxing effect and should be avoided prior to driving and/or operating machinery. Those with cancer should avoid use. Do not use when pregnant or nursing. Generally non-toxic, non-irritant, and non-sensitizing.
