Palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii var motia) is a wild growing herbaceous plant with very fragrant grassy leaves, long slender stems and beautiful flowering tops. It is native to India and Pakistan, but now grows in Africa, Indonesia, Brazil and the Comoro Islands. It is of the same family as Lemongrass, and Citronella. The fresh, or dried grass is steam distilled to make the essential oil which is a pale yellow or olive colored liquid with a sweet, floral, rosy, geranium-like scent.

Palmarosa is used widely for skin care because of its moisturizing properties. It is used for supporting nervous exhaustion, and can help with circulation and digestive problems.

It blends well with Geranium, Amyris, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Bay, Cardamom, Clary sage, Frankincense, German and Roman chamomile, Petitgrain, Patdhouli, Juniper, Helichrysum, Lemongrass, Neroli, Myrhh and dozens of other essential oils. Palmarosa is non-toxic, non-irritant, and non-sensitizing. Do not use when pregnant or nursing.
