Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora ) is a tall evergreen tropical tree with bright green foliage, and waxy leaves that produce a camphorous aroma when broken. Masses of white flowers bloom on it in the spring. The tree is native to China, Taiwan and Japan, but has been introduced to many countries around the world. The oil is steam distilled from the leaves producing a fresh, woody, eucalyptus and floral scent.
