Aniseed (Pimpinella Anisum) is native to Greece and Egypt, but is now widely cultivated in India and China. The seeds are steam distilled and produces a thin colorless to pale yellow liquid with a warm, spicy-sweet aroma. Aniseed can be a skin irritant; avoid in allergic and inflammatory skin conditions. Use in moderation only. In large doses it can produce a narcotic effect and slow down circulation. Aniseed blends well with Caraway, Cardamom, Rosemary, Mandarin, Petitgrain, Dill, Fennel, Cedarwood, Coriander and other essential oils. Do not use when pregnant or nursing.
