Juniper Berry Essential Oil
Botanical Name: Juniperus communis
100% Pure therapeutic grade essential oil
Juniper Berry (Juniperus communis) comes from a fragrant, coniferous evergreen shrub with bluish green narrow stiff needles, small flowers, and round berries which are green in the first year, and black after that. The trees are native to the northern hemisphere: Scandinavia, Siberia, Canada, northern Asia, and northern Europe. The oil is mainly produced in Italy, France, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Canada and other areas. These fragrant trees have been used for medicinal and spiritual purposes since ancient times. Juniper continues to provide support to many areas of the body; can be helpful for a variety of skin conditions, and can provide relief to sore and strained muscles. It can help improve circulation, and reduce fluid retention. High in monoterpenes, it is analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, antifungal, and antimicrobial.
The berries are steam distilled producing a thin oil, white or yellowish in color, with a fresh, sweet, woodsy, balsamic aroma. This oil blends well with Vetiver, Tea tree, Spikenard, Neroli, Myrrh, Eucalyptus, Bergamot, Black pepper, Clary sage, Lemon, Helichrysum, Grapefruit, Fennel, Carrot seed, Palmarosa, Peppermint and many other oils. Juniper Berry is non-toxic and non-sensitizing; it can be slightly irritating and should be patch tested by those with sensitive skin using a carrier oil. Anyone with liver or kidney disease should use caution as Juniper Berry has diuretic properties. Do not use when pregnant or nursing.
