Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is a fast growing tall and aromatic perennial grass. It is native to warm and tropical regions, such as India, Southeast Asia, and Oceania. The plant leaves are steam distilled from the fresh and partially dried leaves. The oil is a yellow to amber color and has a fresh, grassy-citrus scent with earthy undertones. It has been used for flavoring food and in traditional East and West Indian medicines for centuries.

It blends well with Basil, Black pepper, Cardamom, Cedarwood, Ylang ylang, Lavender, Grapefruit, Ginger, Geranium, Fennel, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Vetiver, Rosemary and numerous other essential oils. Lemongrass oil can be a dermal irritant and may cause sensitization for people with sensitive skin. Conduct a patch test using a carrier oil prior to application. It is non-toxic. Do not use when pregnant or nursing.
