Rose Absolute (Rosa x damascena) is organically grown in Bulgaria. It is a small prickly shrub with very fragrant, pink blossoms. The most affordable way to process this oil is to process by solvent extraction. This is your Rose Absolute. Petals are harvested early in the morning when the oil content is at its peak in the Bulgarian countryside. It takes as much as 2 tons of rose petals to produce one pound of Rose essential oil. The absolute is created by immersing the blossoms into a solvent - producing a reddish orange or olive colored liquid that has a crisp, very rich, sweet-floral and slightly spicy, wonderfully relaxing scent.
