Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) is a wonderfully fragrant oil that comes from a perennial bushy herb with hairy stems and large furry leaves with white flowers and purple streaks. It is native to tropical Asia, particularly Indonesia and the Philippines. The oil is cultivated in India, China, Malaysia, and South America, and distilled in Europe and America from the dried leaves. In the East, the oil is used to scent clothing and linens and to help prevent the spread of disease. Patchouli oil is dark orange to amber color, thick and sticky, with a rich, sweet, herbaceous, earthy aroma. Patchouli oil improves with age!.
