The Cedarwood tree (Cedrus atlantica) is a pyramid shaped evergreen that can grow up to 100 feet high. The wood is hard and very aromatic due to the high percentage of essential oil it contains.The tree is native to the Atlas mountains of Algeria, the oil is mainly produced in Morocco. The wood is steam distilled to produce the oil, which has a yellow, orange or deep amber viscosity with a warm, sweet, woody balsamic undertone.

Ancient Egyptians and Native Americans used Cedarwood oil in medicinal applications as well as in purification rites. The oil blends well with Rosewood, Bergamot, Cypress, Calamus, Jasmine, Juniper, Neroli, Clary sage, Vetiver, Rosemary, Ylang ylang, Frankincense and many other oils. Cedarwood is non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing. Do not use this oil while pregnant or nursing.
