Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua) comes from a large perennial herb with a smooth stem, and small yellow clusters of flowers. The plant is native to the Middle East and western Asia, and cultivated in Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey and Lebanon. The oil is usually distilled in the US or Europe. The plant contains resin ducts which produce natural oleoresin. The dried resin is collected by making incisions at the base of the stem. Galbanum oil is steam-distilled to yield a green, thick oil with a fruity,fresh green topnote and woody-balsamic aroma. Galbanum blends well with Lavender, Geranium, Pine, Fir, and other essential oils. It is non-toxic, non-irritant, and non-sensitizing. Do not use when pregnant or nursing.
