Tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus) is a perennial herb with smooth, narrow, leaves, and small yellow flowers that thrives near water. It is native to Europe, western Asia, and southern Russia. It is cultivated worldwide now, especially in France, the U.S., and Europe. The oil is produced in France, the United States, Holland, and Hungary. The leaves of this herb are steam distilled to extract the essential oil. It is a colorless to pale yellow, thin liquid, with a spicy, anise-like, sweet green scent.

This is a beneficial oil to help ease painful muscle spasms, particularly those relating to the colon and digestive system, and it can help with sluggish digestion. This is an extremely strong and potent essential oil, due to its naturally occurring chemical components. It should never be used for more than a few days (3-4) at a time and only at a 0.1% dilution, if used topically. Tarragon is also emotionally stabilizing and can help evoke a sense of calm.

DO NOT USE when pregnant and nursing.
