The Cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) is a tropical evergreen with strong branches, shiny green leathery leaves, small white flowers and oval bluish-white berries. It is native to Sri Lanka, Madagascar and the Comoro Islands, and cultivated in India, Jamaica and Africa. It has been used for thousands of years in the east for a wide range of medicinal purposes. It is steam distilled from the fresh leaves of the Ceylon cinnamon tree, and produces an oil that is yellow to brownish in color, has a spicy, warm , aroma that smells like a cinnamon stick. This oil is high in phenols; making it an oil that should be used at a 1% dilution or less if used topically and for short durations; not over a long period of time. Use with caution if you have liver function concerns, clotting conditions, hemophillia, kidney disease, or prostate cancer. Cinnamon can help with supporting pain and inflammation, and can provide support for the immune system and can fight fungal and viral attacks.

It blends well with Ravintsara, Orange, Mandarin, Ginger, Rosemary, Thyme, Cedarwood, Cardamom, Coriander, Lavender, Pine, Sandalwood. and other essential oils. Cinnamon leaf essential oils should be used with care. It can cause irritation to the mucous membranes. It can be a skin irritant for sensitive individuals. Do not use if pregnant or nursing.
