Lime (Citrus aurantifolia) comes from a small evergreen tree with stiff sharp spines, that produces beautiful white flowers before the green fruits. The bitter fruit is about half the size of a lemon and has an irresistible scent. Native to south Asia, it has been naturalized in many tropical and sub-tropical regions around the world. A natural air freshener, this oil can help to fight cold and flu-like symptoms, sinus infections, muscle pain and stiffness as well as helping to provide tonic support to the digestive system.

It is cultivated in Italy, Florida, the West Indies, and Mexico. Most of the essential oils are cold pressed using the peel and the unripe fruit. Earth's Own Essentials uses the steam distilled Lime which utilizes the whole ripe crushed fruit. The oil is a pale yellow or olive-green thin consistency with a fresh, sharp citrusy scent.

It blends well with Neroli, Lavender, Lavandin, Black pepper, Ginger, Ylang ylang, Nutmeg, Rosemary, Jasmine, Clary sage, Dill and Carrot seed oils. It is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing. However the cold pressed oil can be phototoxxic (the steam distilled oil is not). When using the cold-pressed oil, avoid exposure to sunlight for at least 12 hours after use.
